Joie Starr - Bio

 

 

Joie was born in 1982 out of a burning necessity to pay the rent. Rooted deeply in the south, Joie loves high heels, make-up and big hair in equal portions. Joie was regular feature in east coast Drag Pageants during the 80's, later becoming assistant show director at the Corporation Nightclub. She was also a member of the Power Company house cast in Raleigh, North Carolina. Joie has been the recipient of many talent, modeling, and costume awards in the pageant systems. She has performed at numerous benefits, raising money for AIDS research. The most recent being the CD launch party for the new ABBAlicious CD released on 

June 22,2004  benefiting  AMfar and Immigration Equality.

In the fall of 1986, Ms Starr packed her wigs and high heels and headed north to Nirvana, aka New York City. Joie then appeared in the CBS television drama "The Equalizer " in September of 1986. Joie performed the Mistress of Ceremonies duties at the 1988 Miss New York City pageant, as well as performing in the show. In the early 90's Ms Starr was a member of the drag troupe " The Time Square Sluts "where she personally embodied the troupe's motto "As nasty as we want to be ". Ms Starr performed in many clubs and private parties during the 90's.

After a brief Hiatus, Joie Starr is thrilled to back in the world of entertainment and this time she has been given a voice.
